Coaching is best described as working in partnership with a client to motivate and contribute towards successful changes, overcome a present challenge, go through transitions in life, help to attain clarity or accelerate results. It looks at setting a goal that is S.M.A.R.T. and meaningful to the client, then putting in place strategies to help the client move towards the goal.
It also looks at change as a wonderful opportunity for growth and learning making it a positive and enjoyable experience. It’s a very dynamic process, focussing mainly in the present and the future.
Coaching involves careful and clear planning, resource gathering and implementation, feedback on actions and outcomes evaluation.
The sessions produce an ongoing trusting relationship between coach and client in which the coach is present not as a problem solving resource but as a motivator, facilitator, supporter, a guide to help you clarify your ambitions and a challenger through questions designed to raise your awareness and to check if you are on track.
Having a life coach helps you to stay focus, to achieve your goal in a balanced way without having to waste time and energy unnecessarily. Gives you the push to venture outside your comfort zone so that you can really aim to achieve what so far has just been a dream. Finally, gives you someone who understands how meaningful and important the goal is to you.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
You need to be prepared to work in partnership, to exercise receptiveness to new ways of trying things. You should be prepared to challenge existing attitudes and perform true self analysis of where you are right now compared to where you want to be in your bright new future.
Be aware that coaching is different from therapy and it does not deal with deep emotional issues or crisis. Coaching is about helping you to improve even more in the areas where you are trying to make some positive changes and to fill the gaps in order to get even better results. Coaching is about listening to clients, working on strategies and developing existing or new skills to achieve goals.
My coaching can take place face-to-face but is mainly done over the telephone. Clients can have the consultation face-to-face in the comfort of their home or office depending on location. Sessions last for 50 minutes. You are under no obligation to take any compromise for further sessions and you have a period of 24 hours to confirm or cancel any sessions booked.
This period is important to help you decide if you are happy to work with the coach and if you are ready to start the coaching. Having a confirmation within 24 hours also helps the coach to plan the availability of sessions.
All sessions and issues discussed are totally confidential and approached in a non-judgmental manner. At client’s request hypnotherapy sessions can be included to help you achieve your goal faster. Coaching can also be combined with NLP - Neuro-Linguistic Programming which also provides a fast and effective strategy to enhance changes.
